Can anyone explain why people get so worked up over college ball? I've seen multiple people crying in the stands after their team loses. Where is all this emotion coming from?

Not having gone to OU, I really didn't feel it until I started going to games. I guess the crowd's enthusiasm is contagious.

Holy shit. Northern Iowa was up 10 with a minute to play and A&M just tied it up.

Texas A&M wins in double OT. Craziest damn thing I've seen in awhile.

And I turned it off when they were up ten. Perfect timing.

Wasn't worried about A&M but the next game's going to be tough.

OU made the final four in football and basketball. Hope the basketball team has better luck.

This tournament is nuts. Anyone think Syracuse would take down Virginia?

Snob Obviously they're not on the same level as the NBA, but lot of these games are exciting.

If you went to the college, that's a real connection. I cared more about UCLA basketball during the Final Four runs from 2005-2008 than anything else.

On the flip side, do you not find it weird that people form emotional connections to professional teams they are not linked to in any way? The crying people in the stands are students at those universities, they're part of a real community.

As if you have to dislike one thing just because you enjoy another thing more. Or you can...like both. People go out of their way to be critical and negative sometimes when it's unnecessary IMO.

The crying people in the stands are students at those universities, they're part of a real community. Yeah, usually they're students, but a lot of the time it's a random guy or woman. I understand the emotional tie to the school if you attended, but looking as if your entire world is shattered just boggles the brain. Even more so considering you don't even really see that kind of emotion from fans of professional sports. People watch sports for different reasons. For me, I am fascinated with seeing the elite of the elite performing against each other. Which is why college sports has never had much of an appeal, to me. I'm not trying to put those people down, or anything. It's just hard for me to fathom why college ball generates way more emotion in most people than pro, and I'm legitimately trying to get an understanding of it.
