I think this surpasses J-Mac ragging on modern Hetfield's voice for offending my delicate 'tallica sensibilities. I can't believe this.

i think for a lot of guitarists you have to take into account the music, and how they compliment the band that they're in, rather than whether or not they are a virtuoso on the instrument. that's where i see peter buck going. but that may just be me. and i don't know how much of kurt's sloppiness live comes from lack of skill or from lack of caring. possibly he was drunk or stoned a lot of the time too. Oh I agree. That's why if I think Kurt Cobain were consistent live with the context of their music style, I wouldn't think of him as terrible...but he was super bad outside the studio

Sober Kirk Hammett Not that I think he's bad, I actually quite like him, especially his 80's and early 90's work. But with bands that I have no problem slapping the word "Great" on them, he sorta sticks out as someone who doesn't sound like they practice enough compared to his contemporaries. HIs tone is legendary for its badness (I cut slack on his Marshall tone on the first 3 albums, his tone was great then, in my opinion, his Randall tone is awful), and his laziness shows on recordings nowadays. Outside of his leads on Moth Into Flame and Spit Out The Bone on the new Metallica album...none of his other solos are memorable, and just sound like filler to pass the time. Considering the perfectionism of James' writing and playing, Kirk SHOULD be doing better, imo. Seriously, that Hardwired solo itself was pretty damn weak for what was a slamming fucking track. Maybe if he didn't slump so hard on his playing post Loads, I wouldn't even think of him for this question. Bold I knew it would be controversial. Especially from someone who loves Metallica as much as I do But...I do prefer Kirk's playing when he was on Coke

Had no idea there was a legit music video for this song It's funny, I don't remember the cartoon The Racoons much, beyond this song, and of course the revival for Hobo With A Shotgun.

And Hetfield seems to be back to singing like he did back in the day. The whoahoh's and the yeahhea's and the ruh's at the end of most lines just annoyed me. We talked about this man! And James has never released anything as horrible as Risk. I do love Mustaines voice, but I am aware that he is not half the singer James is. I like his imperfection though.

In case nobody noticed, I've been listening to the American Fool album the last few days. Probably Mellencamp's best album.
