If you guys want me to leave the board, just let me know. Oh shut up. You knew there was gonna be some trollin after that. Weeza u! Y'all went so light on me, could have been much worse. But really, I was happy for LeBron and Cleveland. Golden State deserved that moment of hubris.

At least the Lakers got Timofey Mozgov and old Luol Deng. Might win 25 games this year.

If LeBron beats the Warriors super team the next two years and keeps KD ringless going into another free agency period, he's the greatest of all time.
Amazing how the roles reversed from six years ago with those two.

Sucks for the parity in the league. Basically guaranteed Cavs/Warriors Finals for the next few years. Which will make for great TV in June, snoozers before that. Personally, I would have liked to see Durant in Boston so a team could finally challenge LeBron in the East. OKC only made sense on a one year deal where he and Westbrook could enter free agency together. The organization itself let him down repeatedly (Harden trade, giving Westbrook free reign to do whatever he wanted) and tbh I believe there's a Seattle karma element to this although it still sucks for the OKC fans especially given he was really one of the two founding fathers of the franchise. I hope Westbrook stays and Presti can re-capture the magic of his first few drafts, because those fans deserve a winner. Durant joining the Warriors is absurd. And it does feel cheap. Not a good look for him at all. But hey, players don't give a shit about fan perception. Nor should they. He wanted to win rings. He'll definitely win some in Golden State as well as get the easiest shots of his career. There's still a lot to be said about the unfair double standard fans create where they demonize players for making decisions for the money, but when they don't and leave their egos at the table to win, they're still criticized. We as fans are absolutely not in a position to tear down players for violating the things we value. But in a lot of ways, this does look worse than LeBron joining Miami because they had to build a champion organically with that group. He's literally just getting plugged into Barnes' spot and they're guaranteed to win rings. Also, good to be back. Past few weeks have been among the most stressful in my work life ever. Things are finally calming down on that front. There's not much of any of this I can disagree with. The perception of the fans, media etc. shouldn't matter, especially now that it is at an all-time high of exposure. I will just add, that the perception for me that should matter, is when I look myself in the fucking mirror. Everyone knows it's the cheap and easy way out to get the ring. And that's not to say I wouldn't have done it myself in his position. But when this is over, he really needs to come and build and earn the ring. He may not give a shit, but I know I would.

Some guys are just wired differently. As much as we fans love the idea of players being loyal (to billionaire owners who are only loyal to the dollar), sticking it out and carrying the load themselves, that's not appealing to many players in reality. When you look at things objectively, fan perception is such a minuscule issue relative to all the appeal of joining a super team. Golden State had so much to offer: legendary shooters who opened up the floor for him, an owner who will do whatever it takes to win unlike OKC's owner who traded his best friend James Harden to save money in the future (which I'm sure KD never forgot), Silicon Valley connections KD has long been intrigued by, a residence in the Bay Area which is apparently his favorite place to live, the near-guarantee of winning multiple titles and a system that would enhance his abilities as a player to a greater degree than just trading ISOs with Westbrook in OKC. Pretty tough to turn all that down just to appease fans/media who will always be critical no matter what. I'm sure it hurt him to leave the OKC fans, because I really believe he had a lot of love for them. It's a cruel world, ya know.

The one thing that perplexes me is that Durant had to know signing with the Warriors that he would not be the franchise's golden boy. No matter what he does, Steph is royalty in the Bay Area. Those fans will always have more love for him, especially after the early years with the injuries. KD's probably the best player on the team by a slim margin, but he won't be viewed that way.

Oh, and this is for Jason: LeBron surpassed MJ with that Finals. Third best player of all time behind Magic and Bird. I can get behind that. What happened to Wilt at #1?

I didn't take era adjustment into account as much in previous years. Now I can't deny it. Wilt is so tough to rank because with his athleticism, he dominates in any era but he played in an era of bad shooting and far more possessions. Lot of opportunities for stat padding. I'd still probably rank him #5, he and Kareem are neck-and-neck there.

Durant going to the Warios made me a little sour on him. Ultimately I just hate them slightly less now, is all. As long as they still have Andrew Bogus, Draymond Groin and that traitor Iggy, I will always hate them.

The latter. 7-12 is even harder to rank than 1-6 for me. Total cluster between Oscar, Kobe, Russell, Hakeem, Shaq and Duncan.

It gets harder in most lists when you venture from the top. I couldn't begin to make a top ten NBA list. Even in football I only have my top 3 QBs.

I've realized with the NBA you probably have to break it down into "bigs" and "guards/wings" to give fair rankings.

Shit is crazy. When the 76ers were pushing so hard for Barnes I thought they wanted to keep rebuilding for another 5 years.

Outside of this season, DeRozan's teams have fared better when he's off the court than on it. He is the most overrated player in basketball and his midrange-dominant game does not fit the new NBA. I cannot understand for the life of me why anyone wants Harrison Barnes bad enough to pay him like he's a great player. He's not even a good player. Dude was wide open on pretty much every shot the entire year with Steph and Klay out there and had like an 0-20 shooting stretch in the Finals. To go from Barnes to Durant may be the biggest positional upgrade in NBA history...
