Overall, I really liked this year's turnout of flicks, compared to most years where I only get a handful that I really really enjoyed. Pretty common theme: simplicity. Mad Max: Fury Road, The Revenant, Hateful 8, It Follows are all very simple plots when broken down, and I loved it for it. I love Chris Nolan and all, but I think since he hit it big, everyone tries to make every plot super heavy now, so it was a relief seeing movies with simple-but-solid plots coming out, that take the time to become art once again rather than being "important" (Spotlight is one that shines itself on being important rather than a work of art, luckily I still liked it).
MVP (Actor/Actress that occurs in more than one of my faves of the year): Tom Hardy (Fury Road, Revenant). Runner Up: Kurt Russell (Hateful 8, Bone Tomahawk)
