it retcons movies from the original series (specifically everything after the original), so i can't see it as a remake. That beginning was the best part of the film. Everything after that felt like some generic slasher. Actually, it felt a lot like Mask Maker, now that I think on it. Still, I thought overall your list was pretty decent. Some interesting picks there (such as counting The Hole from 2001 as horror).

you don't like don't breathe, i don't like starry eyes. but i'll give it another watch at some point. maybe my opinion will change. and jig, the remakes i like are better than the remakes you like. Don't Breathe is a C+ movie I don't hate it I'm just disappointed by it.

Actually, I count The Hole as horror myself. Why? Because it's on my list of horror films, and I can't take it off until I rewatch it to make a final conclusion.

Everything after that felt like some generic slasher. I agree with the 2nd act feeling generic, but I felt the 3rd went into fresh direction. Plus, it's got my #1 chickadee in it, so it will have a soft (or hard) spot for me

I admit, by that point in time, I was sort of out of it.
