Got to thinking about this, now that the remake will be released in a few months.
I loved the camaraderie between the kids and don't think it could be replicated any better. Tim Curry was my favorite performance of the movie, for sure. Witnessing each act of terror through the experience of the children was brilliant. Loved the soundtrack, hated the ending.
Overall, if I had to pick one moment in the movie, it would be the Georgie scene. This is where we're introduced to Pennywise, and not only do we get the introduction, but we get to see the essence of his character. The whole scene is only about two minutes long, and for the first minute and a half he is trying to gain Georgie's trust so he can pull him under. Check out Pennywise's expression on his face and change of tone in his voice when Georgie finally began trusting him and asked "Do they float". That was the moment Pennywise knew he had him, and Curry executed it perfectly. You could literally hear the ecstasy and excitement in his voice for the hell he is about to unleash on this kid. The shining moment of the movie, in my opinion.
I'm not holding out much hope for the new Pennywise to fill Curry's shoes, but a great Pennywise can be portrayed, even if it's only half as good as Tim Curry's was. I'm stoked for this flick.

That's always gonna be the most iconic scene. Another one that stuck with me as a kid was Stan in the dilapidated house, the mummified IT coming down the stairs. And of course it was Stan who saw him last that summer then off'd himself later in life. I know they are doing the Leper in the new version so that should be cool.

One scene that stuck with me as a kid was how haunting his voice was in the bloody sink scene with Beverly. "You'll diiiie if you tryyy..." {Spoiler}

I'd have to re-watch. Been too long to remember.

Reign got one of them - I love the Standpipe scene in the book with the dead boys, but that house scene with the mummy really freaked me out when I was younger.
Likewise, I also liked the scene with Pennywise masquerading as Ben's father in the Barrens - those creepy water plant things have a sinister aura just by themselves, but with Ben's father's voice breaking and Pennywise's voice becoming more prominent, it's creepy as fuck.
That said, I'm hoping this new movie is far more faithful to the book. There's so much in the book I'd love to see on the big screen, and while I get that a television movie from the 1990's couldn't realistically do some of it, I'm so pumped that perhaps we'll get another chance with this 2017 movie.

The biggest difference in the remake I think will probably be Pennywise. He seems darker and more reserved, whereas with Curry, he was the happiest mother fucker in the world. Which is what a clown should be, only he was thrilled to be unleashing brutal murder on these kids all over town. Couple that with the performance of Curry as Pennywise and you get one of the greatest villains in horror history, and the perfect horror movie clown.

My favourite IT moment is when they unlock your laptop and install Firefox. Hah! Glad to see I wasn't alone in thinking of the IT dept. I have zero training in IT and I still managed to become the IT person where I work. I have no fucking clue how that happened short of, "Ooohhh....she knows how to turn on a computer!" <-- boss. I'm with Ava though, I'd have to rewatch as I haven't seen it in a long time.
