as imdb fails to list aliens as horror, they are capable of getting it wrong. perhaps the legend of lizzie borden is another such example. Certainly possible. There are some films that are sometimes considered horror, sometimes not - they keep getting switched every few years or so. Jaws is a good example. All of this said, I've never once ran into this movie under the label of horror, which certainly doesn't mean that it's not, but does seem to show that there's more than a few viewers of the film who may also feel it doesn't count.

What else could a Lizzie Borden based murder history flick be? Action? Melodrama? Comedy? Lol. No. "Drama, History, Mystery" actually.

it could indeed be melodrama, but i'm picturing thriller, if not horror.

Horror, thriller, suspense.
The movie takes place immediately after the murders happen. Once Lizzie is suspected and put on trial, the story of the events leading up to the murders are told and seen through flashbacks, with a bone-chilling final 15 minutes that throw the flick directly into the horror pile. There was a moment in the flick that sent a chill throughout my entire body. I'm sure it was elevated because of it being a true story, and the fact that I watched it at home alone in the middle of the night, but there were moments in this movie that genuinely creeped me out as much as any movie ever has in my adult life.
It was as historically accurate as much as I know it to be, and not totally necessary to study up on the murders before watching. To anyone who watches it, just know this: The front door was jammed shut when the father came home from his morning walk. As the maid was trying to open the door for him, she cursed at the door, and she heard Lizzie laughing at her from upstairs. That was one small thing I was wondering if they would include in the movie.
The movie is up on youtube in the link Ava posted on page 1. Please see it, and give it proper attention. It was absolutely incredible.

so, it's a good movie. i do think it's horror, but they got a little bit too caught up in the court room stuff for my liking.

I liked that there were consistent trial breaks whenever an incident was brought up, taking us back to the events in question.

I visited the youtube page of the movie, and it's significantly darker and more blurry than my DVD copy. DVD copy looks like a direct "copy-&-paste" style transfer from VHS, but easy to view. A little harder to focus on the youtube version. Would recommend buying the flick to get a proper viewing experience, but I doubt anybody will. Either way, just see this movie. Great stuff.
