I'd like to discuss this game. What are your favorite moments? I'll start off with one of the things I admire most about it. Those subtleties. For anyone who played the game, you probably remember Joel's personality beginning to evolve after his near-death experience while Ellie was taking care of him. He became a lot more accepting and receptive toward Ellie. What many people may not have caught is what occurred while the end of the game was coming to a close. There was a key moment that subtly addressed Joel's personality right before the apocalypse consumed his life. It represented the purity of his emotions and ability to love before the apocalypse, and served as a bit of a rebirth of himself. I captured the two moments in screenshots below. Joel protecting Sarah. Joel protecting Ellie. In the final scene of the game, in an attempt to comfort Ellie, Joel pauses for a brief moment and clutches the watch his daughter gave him before explaining to her that there is a struggle to surviving, but you need to keep searching for something to fight for. When he shot Marlene as he was holding Ellie, I believe he was seeing Marlene as the same person who pulled the trigger on his daughter. I like to think that this game isn't so much about the apocalypse or fighting off infected people and scary creatures, but the beginning of a journey where a man rediscovers himself by finding someone in a world where his entire life once collapsed.

I took it less about finding himself and more about finding a purpose and re-learning the morals he thought he had lost after his daughter's death. It wasn't so much that Ellie reminded him of his daughter, but more about she deserved a life as much as any of the people she could potentially cure. The one life vs many dilemma. is it okay to sacrifice one life to potentially save many or is it wrong? joel felt it was wrong and stuck to that.

I loved the ending. A lot of people absolutely hated it just cause of the way it ended, they though Ellie should have been killed and a cure made. To me, that didn't fit with Joel's demeanor or attitude about survival and life.

Same. And I think people who choose to despise that ending really lack empathy. We really have no idea what decision we'd make in a scenario like that. There is no doubt that choosing Ellie over humanity was more accurate toward Joel's personality.

It has been on my radar since Tigg posted it as his #1, then everyone else chimed in with how good it was. I was getting the urge to play a new game a few weeks ago. I took to youtube and watched the first two or three minutes of the game, shut the video off, went to the Pawn Shop down the street and bought it.

I think my favorite part of the game was when you first encounter the clickers. The ambiance of that scene

The first clicker I remember was when I dropped down to the lower level while Tess and Ellie waited for me. There was only one, but there were about a half dozen runners. This was really the first point in the game when you had to really legitimately play it. I had to retry like 40 times.

yes! Thank you, it's been a while since I played. That was my favorite enemy introduction scene. Favorite scene overall was probably when Ellie was knocked out and about to be operated on and Joel was like "Fuck this." Favorite Ellie scene was probably the bow and arrow scene with the deer. Favorite Joel scene would go back to the Ellie about to be operated on scene, shoot the doc!

I couldn't even begin to pick a favorite scene. Dozens of moments hit you right in the feels all throughout the game. The guy having to kill his little brother, Ellie getting loose and going crazy when she chopped up that weirdo that held her captive. Of course the beginning and end scenes. All amazing. My favorite moment of gameplay by far was that sniper scene, though. Where you have to hop through the little residential block, take out enemies and infiltrate the sniper's hideout, then use the sniper to kill the enemies coming for the team. Gaaah, I want to restart this game so bad.

Ellie going nuts was a great scene, but I definitely preferred the scene where she's taking care of Joel for a change. The sniper play through was intense but I think I had a harder time with that first bloater and, if I'm remembering right, the underground scene? I'm thinking it was either a tunnel, subway or sewer but can't remember which, remember clickers and water but I think there were cars abandoned? can't remember if they were subway cars or like car cars though. I definitely need to play through again, Ohhh! and I loved the hotel scene, I think it's where you first encounter the Fireflies? can't remember for sure though.

I barely remember much from the hotel. I remember near the beginning of the game you encounter Marlene, and you meet her with the Fireflies in the hospital at the end. The sniper scene definitely wasn't the toughest one to play, but I just love sniper's in games. Pretty fascinated with them. Probably plays a part in why I live Jack Reacher so much. When I would find a bench and upgrade weapons, the one I always aimed for was the scope on the rifle so I could snipe everything, even if it was more difficult that way.

Mark gets onto me for turning everything into a sniper rifle. "Angela, it's a shotgun...it is an up-close weapon..." "I know...but now it has a scope and marksman's stock! Looks so much cooler!" "It a two shot shotgun you cannot possibly use that scope." "...So? It made the accuracy one point higher..." *actual conversation while he watched me upgrading weapons in Fallout 4* also he takes issue with me adding pockets to all armor to improve carry weight Me: "Can you put a pocket on a helmet?" Mark: "...No..." Me, disappointed: "Oh...*looks for hat that improves strength but give no protection* hehehe" Mark: *shakes head* I'm a notorious thief and sniper in every video game I play.

It's the best way to do it! Though, I don't think I'd scope out a shotgun. That's one thing I prefer about newer games. The sniper. Not just because it's utilized, but because the kills are so satisfying. My favorite game ever is probably GoldenEye, and I don't care much at all for the sniper in it.

You know what, my favorite cut scene might've actually been the drive into Pittsburgh. Perfect utilization of Hank Williams. Loved it. PS3 actually made it one of their teaser trailers.
