Can we start the wheels in motion? I am happy to pay for the hosting and such in perpetuity. I just don't have the time to run it anymore.

I think the first thing would be to determine a new host and message board code that we can migrate the old board to. I know I looked up some and I think D looked up some, but I don't remember any that we looked up. They are on here somewhere, I know that Collectively decide on one, figure out the cost (if we wanna split it up between us or let Foo foot the bill as he's offering) Then we need someone who can actually do the set up and migrating and such and pray to whatever gods or intelligent beings we individually believe in that it all goes well. Admittedly, fear of fucking everything up leaves me hesitant to take the "rebuilding" reigns but I will happily scout compatible board options and hosts!

The board will no doubt be gone forever unless we take the risk of bringing it back by transferring code. Realistically, although the history exists, we've got nothing to lose, because we'll never see it again if we don't pursue that route.

I don't know if I have those on my external hard drive saved somewhere, but if we've nothing to lose, might as well go for it.

Plus, we need to try and salvage the October Challenge lists. Well, Jiggy... That's part of the "save the entire board" plan. The most important part. I do wonder, though - has something like this happened before in HMF history? A precedence of sorts? Because it seems to me we were slightly unprepared for this (obviously, we had this spareboard, which was great, but as for a plan to move forward, it seems like it's happening now). I don't mean to sound ungrateful or anything, just voicing my thoughts.

I'm willing to help with the cost. I know that money has been part of what has held HMF's recovery back. So whatever I can do to help

Hopefully Foo logs in soon and sees your offer, Laz. He has been the one taking care of the cost throughout the entire duration as far as I know.

Cost would've been a factor if Foo was a no-go. time and effort is the real chore

It is also the company that now holds the rights to our old board code, so we should have a chance to get it back with their merge option. I think it would probably be the best option? It's also free, which is a plus. Are we staying the the same host or should we be looking up hosting as well as the actual message board program change?

HMF only costs a couple hundred per year. Like D said, the time and effort is the issue. I have trouble believing our history will ever come back. I think creating something new and sustainable is a better use of resources, rather than trying to migrate the old data to a new platform.

after looking into their help forums a bit, it looks like WowBB is not one we can merge from, so never mind looking into boards that support merging from WowBB

If we go that route, I think we should move to their server. Then you remove the constant issue of a different host claiming the board is using too much bandwidth.

At this point I'm not opposed to it. Though Jiggy brings up a good point, the old site has our Challenge lists. I'd hate to rewatch a shitty movie I forgot I watched in October
