Its your own personal lists so put whatever you want in. Borderline or arguable picks stimulate conversation Hence we're having conversation! How does Chucky not work as a slasher?

Black Magic can't be the cause for a slasher killing machine? Charlie Manson is fucked sick ways from sunday, but didn't they introduce this type of horseshit into Halloween (Curse of the Thorn! ) and even into F13 with JGTH?

i don't think the origin of the villain should be the determining factor on what is or isn't a slasher.

What is the standard to qualify as a slasher?

for me, a slasher comes down to a killer stalking and killing a group of characters, with some sort of sharp weapon or tool, invading their perceived safe place. (as opposed to the group invading a killer's home, like with the texas chain saw massacre) also, the killer can't be the main character in a slasher movie. so no maniac.

Which so-called "best ones" am I missing, pray tell? Admittedly, I'm more likely to make two top 25 lists (divide early slashers and newer slashers) than make one Top 50, but true, I can't make an ultimate list, given the fact there's a lot of movies I've yet to see.

(unless you include a bunch of sequels too, then all bets are off...)

That would make more sense if I were a cyclops, tbh.

I obviously can't account for the movies I've not seen, nor can anyone, so until I see it, my list must survive without it's presence.

1. Friday the 13th part 4 ( the perfect slasher) 2. Bay of Blood (proto-slasher: the template of the genre) 3. Halloween (kicked off the golden age of slashers) 4. Maniac (never have we gone do deep into the slasher mind) 5. The Burning (that amazing raft sequence and ahead of its time makeup for killer) 6. Madman (practically a companion piece to The Burning) 7. Alone in the Dark (when character actors attack!!!) 8. Bloody Birthday (great killer kids slasher) 9. Friday the 13th part 3. (Fundamentally sound, and one of the best looking slashers of the era) 10. Return to Horror High (high concept for its time)
