I get horror movie fans.com as "invalid domain" when starting. I also assume we don't want @horrormoviefans.com emails. Is $20 per annum.
I think with their current 60% off we are looking at $180 Including two annual charges of $40 for security and backups. The website secured for 3 years at the 60% off. Would mean in 3 years I think the price will be higher per annum. Unsure if people like an annual charge of that size. Or who/how we foot the bill.
My preference is for it not to be me as I also incur s charge on foreign currency transactions per transaction and with Brexit and the collapse of the U.K. economy I have a significant forex risk. Admin have any thoughts? Or indeed anyone.
If we establish that as a decent price (basically $4 a month) then we can roll. If not people need an alternative.

I will foot the bill. Which plan are you looking at? $4 a month doesn't seem bad unless they don't actually fix shit, but I'm not sure I'm worried about Sitelock being the one to fix it, they monitor and notify but I'd think it'd be similar to bots and shiz where we or tech support have to jump in and do shit. Forget the e-mails for now, I'm sure we can add that if it makes sense if needed later from a marketing/business perspective, but where are you getting your $20 a year for e-mails? Everything I see is $5 a month.

Can I suggest cloud hosting rather than web hosting? It's faster and will have less down time. The renewal rate is only $2/month more than web hosting, so it's not a huge price difference for a nice upgrade.

I'm guessing because all the other add-on plans are $20 a month, he missed that/lumped it in.

No need, my good man. HOWEVER, all these other motherfuckers! I keed.

Let it be known that as far as design goes, I may be utterly useless on a new board. I was able to manipulate proboards coding for a twin-like HMF look to make life sustainable here, but only because proboards offers the option in the admin area and I know their coding (and because I wasn't an admin on the old board, I was still able to steal the design images from the inspect element option of chrome and apply them here. ). One problem for me could be hostgator not providing the option to fiddle with design and layout coding. Another problem could be the coding in a completely different language than what I'm accustomed to. As far as outlook goes, I'd imagine we'd want to keep at least a similar look to what we've gone with over the years, and having the red/blue option again would be nice, but we could very easily be stuck with our only option being fiddling with colors and shit. Do we get avatars? Siggies? Just something else to consider before jumping right in.

Truly, my only gripe with proboards is how liberal they are with their Objectional Content clause. Though they used to be far worse (I'm sure most of us remember our old boards being deleted a couple of times), they seem to not be overly lenient with insensitivity. This is example 1/7 from their terms of service... You represent and warrant that you shall not use the Website or Services to upload, post, transmit, display, perform or distribute any content, information or materials that: (a) are libelous, defamatory, abusive, or threatening, excessively violent, harassing, obscene, lewd, lascivious, filthy, or pornographic;
Ok, some of that is very vague. In other words, they are basically saying "If we find it lewd, filthy, etc... we can suspend or terminate your board". Not good. Most webhosts are like this, though. Especially now with everyone being so sensitive all of a sudden. So if/when we do leave here, we need to make sure the host can't intervene and shut us down. It's a shame, really. I've watched proboards grow into a miraculous webhosting company with the most helpful online staff I have ever seen. They also offer the option of purchasing a monthly package that will remove all advertisements from the forum and generate 5, 6, or even 7 figure page hits if you're willing to fork over the dough. They are probably the best forum host in the world at this point, but the censorship/insensitivity thing can be a scary thing to have looming over our heads.

You're right. It was $5 a month. I didn't check the price because I feel like we don't need it for all of us. Maybe I'm wrong. But that's a lot more money for a comedy aside. We all got HMF ones once I think. Never used it.
I was on the intermediate plan to allow unlimited domains. Unsure if it mattered but I figured we might get things like /message_board, /blog , /peachesofthemonth
So I thought that might be the differentiator.
Am also ok with cloud vs site. Know too little about cloud aside from how to recognize it under IAS 11.

I'm certainly happy to send single lump sums over to you Reign. I can arrange transfer with a simple IBAN number. Just don't want my credit card to do the lifting.
