NFL executives have turned the NFL into one big joke over the last ten years or so. It's like they have this fulfillment laid out where every year they need to make at least two drastic rule changes that alter the sport. So hard to stay invested with a sport that is trying to implode on itself. "Let's move kickoffs to the 35" "Let's move touchbacks to the 25" "Let's move the extra point spot back for no reason" "Let's automatically eject players for being mean. This isn't 70's-90's football" "Let's make it so you can't tackle a receiver right after he catches the ball. Gotta let him run first." "Let's make it so you can't hit a quarterback high" "Let's make it so you can't hit a quarterback low" "Let's fuck around with overtime and extend the length of play, even though we're trying to limit hits" "Let's implement a clear-recovery rule. We blow the whistle too early a lot because we r stupid, so let's make a rule for our officiating stupidity by encouraging players to play after the whistle is blown dead, contradicting our relentless pursuit of player safety." But here are my favorites! "Let's fine Von Miller 12,000 dollars for doing a semi-inappropriate sack dance during a game. We don't want children seeing that. But hey, check out our recently released, Top 5 Von Miller Sack Dances on youtube. You'll find Von's inappropriate sack dance in there. Von, Thanks for giving us all that material to make a video with and profit from, even though we already fined you five-figures for one of them that is too inappropriate to show" "Let's butcher what is classified as a catch, that way if it's close, the officials can choose whoever they want to benefit from it in certain situations, then we can flaunt our ineptitude on youtube again by posting stupid shit like this"

Fuck that. His overblown contract just became guaranteed.

Fuck that. His overblown contract just became guaranteed. That's a bit of a misnomer, actually. He can still restructure his deal, and I believe he will. Waiting for that arbitrary deadline to pass actually makes it easier for the Broncos to land him. No more deadlines.

We'll cut Clady, take Kaep for 7-8 million and still have enough money to sign our draft picks. There's your offseason.

And I'm not totally sold on Kaep, but he is by far the best option out there and he will add a dangerous dimension to Kubiak's system while Kubiak will shrink the field for his dumb ass so there won't be as much concern about reading defenses/

I don't believe he will. Everybody's about getting paid, and nothing about Kaep has a glaring team first vibe.

Been hearing a lot of really bad takes on the Osweiler/Elway situation. People saying Elway could have re-signed Brock for 5-7 million per year last offseason, as if that wouldn't have entailed Brock's agent being a complete fucking idiot for that to happen.

I don't believe he will. Everybody's about getting paid, and nothing about Kaep has a glaring team first vibe. Why even bother meeting with Elway then? To tell him to fuck off in person, I'd rather cash a couple extra checks and sit there with my hand on my dick wearing a baseball cap? He wants out of San Fran badly. Maybe I'm not cynical enough about the guy to believe he's happier rotting on the bench for an extra 5 million than having an opportunity to play for a winner and get another big contract if he does okay. This will get done, there's just no rush. Elway gets what he wants. He'll bend Kaep and his agent over after a great sales pitch and Kaep will be our QB next year.

The only reason it would make sense for Kaepernick to stay is if he thinks there's no way he can rebuild his value again to cover the cost of 5 million dollars this year. Which is absurd to me, because his career is over if he stays in San Francisco. 5 million dollars this year vs. 50 million over a few seasons in the future if he does okay in Denver.

He has a new coach and has a chance to do well in a Chip Kelly offense. Now that his contract became guaranteed he will start in San Fran, no question if he stays, and it's still shit or get off the pot time. You're right in what you say if he knows and values the bigger picture. I'm not convinced of that, but Elway is a great salesman.

The Yorks are idiots and the 49ers have over 50 million dollars in cap space and nobody wants to sign there. They would have no problem paying Kaep to sit on the bench and moan. They have to spend the money somewhere anyway. The 49ers front office are some spiteful motherfuckers like that. From what I've read, Chip seems higher on Gabbert for reasons I cannot fathom and they're likely to take a QB with their first pick. Elway might convince Kaep to take one "prove it" season with the promise of a big deal in the future if everything checks out. Now Elway might just cut his ass anyway when the season ends, but I bet that would be hard to turn down for Kaep.

I wonder if the 49ers would take Clady off our hands, lower the draft pick burden in a trade for him while clearing the necessary cap space to land him. That would be a savvy deal all-around.

Waiting for that arbitrary deadline to pass actually makes it easier for the Broncos to land him. No more deadlines. I hate that the media is either too stupid or too bored during the offseason that they have to make a big deal about the deadline. He said he was willing to restructure to get out, and that was probably the big discussion between him and Elway. As far as being sold on Kaep, I am. As long as he has a coach that can suit his needs and I think Kubes will do just fine. Finally getting out of San Fran will bring more motivation to Kaep to succeed, as well. I hope we get him over Fitzy, now that we have Sanchez. Fitzy and Sanchez are pretty similar quarterbacks, while Kaep is completely different from both of them and brings the run threat. If Kaep gets injured, bringing in Sanchez could help throw off the game plan of the opponent.
