"Look, broski. We wanna sign you. You're batting .320 in your five-year career, you've led the league in RBIs three years in a row, you're an all-star gold-glover, no doubt about it. But your war is only 0.9, bro. So we gotta drive that price down, you feel me?" I'd love to be a fly on the wall during those negotiations. Mock but by all means don't learn. Teach me your google-work, Sir Novice Baseball Fan. Show me your ways!

Batting average and RBIs, holy shit... The 1950s called, it wants its cutting edge baseball analysis back. I'm gonna ignore that and assume you've resorted to trolling.

Jason, why do you just arbitrarily decide things you don't like aren't true?
Like, here you've just decided I'm lying to you. No counter argument, just an assumption that I'm lying. That's not a good way to view the world.

Dude, just accept you learned something new about how the game is evaluated from the top down, and you can end this ridiculous "teams don't use WAR" argument and we can forget you ever tried this. It's not that hard...

You're not often sensitive to trolling so here I have to assume that you've given up. BA and RBIs, jesus dude. For someone who watches the game as much as you do, it's incredible that you know absolute fuckall about organizational structure and how teams use sabermetrics.

That's not a good way to view the world. I think you believe that WAR plays some huge significant role in negotiations and signing contracts and that every team is studying it like a mofo, but that's not even remotely the case.

You told me 500 times I didn't watch, I don't understand the game, you could not shut up about how much more you know about baseball. Now that I challenge you with a perspective you don't understand, you mock and demean. That's a joke.

No, I know this for a fact. When I need you to try to explain my thoughts on anything, ever, I'll totally let you know.

You learned something about the use of sabermetrics today and instead of accepting it and adding your views in response even if you disagreed, you tell me I'm full of shit. It's ridiculous because you're simply working against facts here. This is not the politics thread where there is nuance to this shit. All teams use WAR and its impact on the game is immense. Pretending this isn't the case is the act of a child.

To claim RBIs are considered statistically significant for baseball teams is a reflection of someone who refuses to grow with the game. Hint: they aren't considered significant. The RBI is now recognized as a largely co-dependent statistic and its relevance has declined decade after decade. Now it's basically a joke. Meanwhile WAR is the foundation of 30 analytics departments in baseball whether you want it to be or not.

I'm done. You literally think the evolution of the game analytically is "fake news". There are actually zero limits to the amount of absolute bullshit you're willing to tell yourself. You will openly deny everything that contradicts your preconceived notions. Just sad dude.
Believe whatever. Facts don't even have to be acknowledged anymore apparently.

Don't you think it's silly to claim you "know for a fact" who the best hitter in baseball is, even though you said yourself you barely watch it? Of course I'm gonna clown on that. Numbers are probably more relevant in baseball than any other sport, but they still don't tell half the story. And I never once said you don't understand, or that I know more. Not once.

Today is the game I should have went to. Nolan bombed two homers, Trevor Story homered, Kyle Freeland was a stud and Ottavino/Dunn/Holland went in for the 7/8/9 innings. Great game. Hoping for a win tomorrow, but Kershaw is likely going to clobber us.

Player rankings are subjective, but 99% of us disagree with you. Who cares about that though? You openly believe things that aren't true that I have both more means to know about and clearly more interest in acknowledging. What am I supposed to say when I know for a fact that these metrics are not only incorporated into but are the foundation of their analytical departments and you tell me it isn't true? I mean, what the hell?

Should I believe you or a highly respected front office guy who works under Andrew Friedman concerning a baseball team's operations? Honestly.

You're also really coming across as that fan who is an absolute dick to everyone who doesn't watch every game every day apparently. "You're not a REAL fan" and the like.
You treat it like a badge of honor that 90% of us can't sit at home and watch games every day. Congrats. You're not special for wasting more of your summer than me, dude. You don't get to act like an elitist and you don't win any awards for watching more games than anyone.

I mean, what the hell? You're changing your story now. You went from WAR being a make-or-break scenario in negotiating a contract, now all of a sudden you're backing up and saying the metric is only used in analytic departments, while conveniently leaving out the degree of importance.
