Definitely see Hacksaw Ridge on the big screen when you get the chance. It too was my favorite out of the Best Picture lineup. It seems right up my alley. Super high expectations for that one.

Really. Some of that dialogue and the scenes where he's courting his future wife were corny as hell. I hurt my eyes rolling them. Good movie overall though. You must've hated a lot of old fashioned movies then Old movies are supposed to be filled with sappy dialogue and over acting. Part of their charm. I don't care for it so much in modern movies. I want gritty reality.

Logan (B) - For a Marvel movie I would say slightly above average but for an X-men/Wolverine movie it's one of the best. Hugh and Patrick are solid but both take a backseat to young Dafne Keen.

First Born (2007) I think Elizabeth Shue did a pretty good job going from normal to bonkers in this one. And even though I knew minutes before the final twist, the way the husband screamed and the severity of what happened packed a real punch.

Sort of thriller because you can't figure out what is what but it really does have a good ending.

Train to Busan A cut above most zombie movies. Any horror flick that can make you care about the characters is doing something right.

I can use the Roku search function, but it only comes up in the main apps. I see it all the time, so I am sure it is in a few of my 100+ Roku apps. BTW, until about 3 weeks ago, I was using a two year old Roku streaming stick, and he first version of the Roku box. I got one of the newer 4K ones (I don't have a 4K tv though), and it is lightning fast. I was about to give up my SlingTv because it would buffer or the Roku would reset. It was also a bitch surfing through the channels. With the new Roku, my SlingTv runs as if I had cable....but better.

Kong: Skull Island
Fun flick. For those that didn't think Godzilla was in Godzilla enough, there's definitely not that issue here. There are some scenes that stand out as being overly silly, that stick out (particularly, a scene with Hiddleston and a Katana...it just looks really silly, when you see it you'll know), but the characters were all good. I really dug Samuel L Jackson's motive (driven by Vietnam being a loss). Not sure of a grade yet, would need to sit on it and a few more watches, but probably in the B range like I found Godzilla (2014).

Does Kong keep to himself/is a badass for the duration or is this a rehash of other Kong is found/Kong likes girl deals with other modern ideas thrown in? Just wondering because as much as I always liked Kong I never cared for the girl in his hand deal. Can't wait to see it.

They do the girl in the hand thing once but it's not a puppy love kind of thing. And Kong is definitely a badass. It's a fun movie. A less serious tone than I was hoping for.
