Does Kong keep to himself/is a badass for the duration or is this a rehash of other Kong is found/Kong likes girl deals with other modern ideas thrown in? Just wondering because as much as I always liked Kong I never cared for the girl in his hand deal. Can't wait to see it. They do the girl in the hand thing once but it's not a puppy love kind of thing. And Kong is definitely a badass. It's a fun movie. A less serious tone than I was hoping for. Sweet!

Though I love Peter Jackson's Kong more (one of my top 3 movies from 2005), I'm so happy this didn't rehash that story and did it's own.

Kong: Skull Island Fun flick. For those that didn't think Godzilla was in Godzilla enough, there's definitely not that issue here. There are some scenes that stand out as being overly silly, that stick out (particularly, a scene with Hiddleston and a Katana...it just looks really silly, when you see it you'll know), but the characters were all good. I really dug Samuel L Jackson's motive (driven by Vietnam being a loss). Not sure of a grade yet, would need to sit on it and a few more watches, but probably in the B range like I found Godzilla (2014). The katana scene stood out for me because it didn't achieve much. I really enjoyed this as a cinema film. Good hard action, very interesting character motivation across the board. Nice use of sound to denote threat. The camera flash sound was a clever one. Forget Brie-boobs, it's still worth seeing.

Black Mirror "Nosedive" episode These really do remind me of super long twilight zone episodes only darker and more current. Bryce Howard (such pretty eyes) is fantastic in this. It is about if stuff like Facebook likes and Instagram perfection rules the world. I was happy to see the trucker actress too. Thought she looked familiar! "Be Right Back" I liked the storyline of what length would you go through to have a loved one return. Would it be the same. Still like the first episode with the pig the best. That was the darkest of what I have seen. *I never know where to put my Netflix original show review. Do they count as tv or movie. Screw it, they are an hour that is only 20 minutes less then some*

Beauty and the Beast
Took my niece to see it this afternoon and ended up enjoying it as much as she did. It's got everything the animated version has and then some. Thumbs up.

The Belko Experiment
The film was decent and basically what you would expect from the trailer. It's just another Americanized take on Battle Royale in an office building.
I felt they didn't know exactly what tone they wanted from the movie, it plays it quite straight, but tries to toss in some jokes that didn't really work with the story. I mean, if they played it for the camp factor it would've ended up being in the same field as say, The Purge sequels. Which could've worked due to all the over the top head explosions and gore. There are some character arcs that just lead nowhere and I assume they just wanted to have an unpredictability factor? People join sides, kill each other and stuff just happens to further the plot.
I can't really say I hated it. There is some fun to be had if you want a bloody exploitation film, but it could've been better if it was just tweaked in a few places.

Train to Busan (I finally got to watch it!!! ) All of you were right. That was good! It's funny because even though it was zombies getting their chow on which normally would be my favorite part, I ended up liking the storyline and the characters even more. I was really attached to them by the end. I was glad when that bastard who kept throwing people got his. What a turd! Favorite scene had to be the one where the three are running at the end. That was intense. Yeah, pretty good flick. Only super tiny thing I would change is the zombie neck crick move. They used it a lot when the zombies first changed in the train than it wasn't as noticeable to me. I've never been a fan of that. Minor irritation though in a hugely satisfying film.

Passengers
It was alright. I know it got torched by critics and at the box office, but it was alright. One thing that chapped my ass was so many saying Jennifer Lawrence was so much better than the material etc. bah. She's not that great, and she worked with the material just fine. And her and Pratt had some good chemistry. It's pretty much a romance flick with a sci-fi setting, but it made me think. End of the day, I would have did as Pratt did. Soundtrack/score was good too.

The Charnel House (2016) Stay away from this one. Total stinker. Not one good thing I can say about it.

LIFE
Good classic space horror. Some great gore and atmosphere. Shitty science but that's life.

It didn't blow me away but I liked it well enough. The end was cool, if predictable.
